When PACER charges $0.10 per page for everything viewed on their site, including queries, it makes sites like CourtListener worth their weight in gold:
It’s like taking a penny and leaving a penny, but with court documents.– Dr. Jones after saving bank; 2023
CourtListener is a public repository of PACER documents that have already been purchased once. This might sound like a complicated extra step in your research process of checking PACER and the CourtListener RECAP library, but it really isn’t. Fortunately there is a RECAP browser extension that will alert you to the free documents while you are browsing at PACER before you drop dime there. Also, if you eventually need to buy a document at PACER the extension uploads your purchased document to the public CourtListener RECAP library so others can also benefit from your purchase.
