CourtListener is a public repository of PACER documents that have already been purchased once. This might sound like a complicated extra step in your research process of checking PACER and the CourtListener RECAP library, but it really isn’t. Fortunately there is a RECAP browser extension that will alert you to the free documents while you are browsing at PACER before you drop dime there. Also, if you eventually need to buy a document at PACER the extension uploads your purchased document to the public CourtListener RECAP library so others can also benefit from your purchase.
