Hey you crazy bastards welcome back to eCrimeBytes Season two Episode 15. This is Burning Teslas with Michael Gonzales and Jesus Christ if you haven’t seen Acts one and two, you really need to go back. If you’re on YouTube, I’ll give you a link now to go back to Act One. You really need to catch a lot of this background because there’s a lot of details of this case that are really interesting and some are kind of humorous because what I did is I walked you through this scheme where Michael Gonzales has been purchasing Teslas by paying the just the down payment upfront.

00:00:49:22 – 00:01:08:26
Keith
It’s a $2,500 down payment. Tesla would ship these cars to him and in two of the cases gave him the manufacturer certificate of origin, which allowed him to either title it or resell it. And he did. He made a lot of money. One car was about $50,000

00:01:08:26 – 00:01:13:36
Keith
and then the other one was about $150,000. And in neither case did he pay Tesla for them.

00:01:13:36 – 00:01:38:03
Keith
He just kept the money when he sold them. The third car, Tesla did not give him the manufacturer certificate of origin. He was kind of stuck with it. So he chose to go ice fishing. And while he was ice fishing, quote unquote, the car started hissing and popping and caught on fire and was a total fire. It was a total mess and a total loss.

00:01:38:05 – 00:02:01:03
Keith
$150,000 car just gone. And so he then tried to file insurance claim with Geico. Geico says this looks a little fishy. You need to come in and we need to sit down and talk under oath. And Gonzales never showed up twice. Okay. And so at the end of the year, Geico said we’re not going to cover this and they just denied his claim.

00:02:01:07 – 00:02:19:13
Keith
That’s where we last left you. So now we’re in act three. This one’s called Baby Mama Drama because I don’t know if you remember, we talked about some drugs and guns and act one of the very beginning. Some of this stuff is going to start to intermingle itself with the cars in his crimes. And it’s I couldn’t remove them.

00:02:19:13 – 00:02:24:34
Keith
I just had to tell you about both of them because they all just are one and the same. So with that,

00:02:24:34 – 00:02:42:50
Keith
we’re going to start it on Tesla number four. This is March 21st of 2019. And again, he agreed to buy a 2019 Model X from Tesla for about $136,000. He used the name of his baby mama, the initials KC.

00:02:42:50 – 00:02:46:56
Keith
We didn’t tell her name, so we’re going to use our initials KC because she becomes a victim later on.

00:02:46:56 – 00:03:01:05
Keith
Gonzales provided Tesla with her Vermont address and her Vermont driver’s license, and then he paid the $2,500 from her Key Bank account. And I say Key Bank. It’s that’s the name of the bank.

00:03:01:05 – 00:03:12:54
Keith
So anyways, Gonzales initiated transfers from that balance. And like in other cases, he didn’t have any money to cover his bill. And in fact,

00:03:12:54 – 00:03:17:52
Keith
the initiation he put down a bank account that didn’t even fucking exist.

00:03:17:52 – 00:03:33:28
Keith
Tesla was fine with it. They gave him the Tesla, they gave him the manufacturer certificate of origin, so now they can title it and resell it again. So I imagine again, Gonzales, in his mind was like, Holy fuck, that worked because the last one didn’t. He had to burn it.

00:03:33:28 – 00:03:39:41
Keith
So then this is God, I, I had to, like, get deep into the details to figure this out.

00:03:39:46 – 00:03:46:52
Keith
So Gonzalez took this Tesla. That is right now in his baby mama’s name, KC

00:03:46:52 – 00:04:20:50
Keith
He performed on paper and I’m using air quotes here an even trade with her. This almost $150,000 car that she owns for his 2013 Kia Optima, which is worth about $8,200. Pretty fucking big price difference, right? Well, on paper they said it was a quote unquote even trade even though it Yeah, it was, you know, $150,000 car versus maybe a $10,000 car.

00:04:20:50 – 00:04:39:59
Keith
That’s not an even trade. Gonzales then listed this Tesla as for sale on eBay. It sold for approximately $100,000. And again, Gonzales didn’t all of a sudden have a come to Jesus moment and say, I better get this money to Tesla because I’ve been screwing them over this whole time. No, he kept it. He kept the money.

00:04:39:59 – 00:04:43:21
Keith
And so we get to our fifth and final Tesla here.

00:04:43:26 – 00:05:05:43
Keith
This is July 20th of 2019. Tesla number five is also a 2019 Tesla model X. Tesla must have been coming down on price because now he bought this one for $115,000. You remember the 2018 model X was about $150,000. Well, this is about $115,000.

00:05:05:43 – 00:05:12:35
Keith
So now he doesn’t use his baby mama as the name. He uses a former girlfriend, AC, as her initials.

00:05:12:35 – 00:05:39:41
Keith
And I’m saying her initials again, because she becomes a victim. Gonzalez makes everybody a victim. So that’s why we’re using the initials. He provided an address in Vermont and a copy of AC’s driver’s license. Gonzales uses CashApp and PayPal to pay ex’s bank account. So basically he’s giving her money and then he used AC’s account that then pay this $2,500 down payment.

00:05:39:41 – 00:05:41:05
Keith
Okay. So now they

00:05:41:05 – 00:05:49:11
Keith
initiate these transfers like they’ve done with all the other four Teslas with non-existing accounts. Again,

00:05:49:11 – 00:05:56:26
Keith
Tesla delivered the vehicle and the manufacturer certificate of origin. So it worked again. It worked again.

00:05:56:26 – 00:05:57:00
Keith
So

00:05:57:00 – 00:06:06:37
Keith
Gonzalez tried to register this vehicle. He said he bought it from his former girlfriend, AC, for $80,000. And that was, again, a false statement.

00:06:06:37 – 00:06:34:00
Keith
During this time, Tesla figured out Gonzalez just stiffed them. Okay, so in August of 2019, this is the first time we’ve seen this. I can’t fucking believe they have not done this any other point except for Tesla number five. They hired a repossession company. I sure hope so on a $100,000 plus car. So that’s September 3rd of 2019.

00:06:34:04 – 00:06:55:52
Keith
This repossession company located this Tesla in a parking garage. And I imagine I’ve seen these repossession shows on Discovery Channel. I imagine they got their CBs and their walkie talkies and they’re, hey, you know, it’s over in this parking spot, get ready. We’re going to go in and take it out. Well, Gonzalez was there and they’re like, Well, we’re taking this car to repossess it.

00:06:55:57 – 00:07:04:45
Keith
Gonzales said. No, you’re not. Jumped in the car, sped off, and when he sped off, he almost hit the repo man, too. So there’s another possible victim.

00:07:04:45 – 00:07:20:34
Keith
So now Gonzalez still has possession of this car, and I guess he must have talked to Tesla or something. But a day later, he says, I’m going to do one of these transfers again and square up this bill with you again.

00:07:20:34 – 00:07:25:12
Keith
It was a fake transfer and the quote unquote, checks bounced again.

00:07:25:12 – 00:07:26:00
Keith
So

00:07:26:00 – 00:07:58:38
Keith
we’re going to pause for a second on Teslas because chronologically, August 21st of 2019, there is this affidavit from a police officer and this affidavit says on August 21st, 2019, the defendant, Gonzales, threatened to kill KC, his baby mama. As the baby mama attempted to leave the residence, Gonzales drove his truck at her, attempting to run her over.

00:07:58:42 – 00:08:17:32
Keith
So this whole taking off in a Tesla and almost running over a repo man. When I read that initially, I was like, Holy shit. Well, that was odd. Well, now he’s trying to hit his baby mama. So it seems like assault with a deadly weapon is just it’s it’s commonplace for Gonzales.

00:08:17:32 – 00:08:22:37
Keith
The police officer said KC jumped into her van to avoid this truck coming at her.

00:08:22:42 – 00:08:50:13
Keith
His truck hit her van, and then he backed up and then he hit the van a second time trying to get her. I imagine he’s like, I’m going to get you, bitch. And like, hit her again. And so he the officer responded. He personally observed that this van was fucked up. It was hit. He saw that KC, the baby mama, was visibly distraught a month later.

00:08:50:18 – 00:08:59:53
Keith
And this is why I have to tie all these things together. A month later, on September 23rd, 2019, Gonzales tried to go out and unlawfully purchase a gun.

00:08:59:53 – 00:09:16:07
Keith
Right. So situation’s not looking good here. You have him trying to buy guns prior to all the Teslas. He’s not allowed to have them because of controlled substances. And now you have him trying to kill his, in my opinion, trying to kill his baby mama.

00:09:16:12 – 00:09:22:47
Keith
And then after that, he’s going to try to buy a gun, which is probably not a good situation for anybody involved here.

00:09:22:47 – 00:09:24:36
Keith
When he goes to try to buy this gun,

00:09:24:36 – 00:09:43:15
Keith
he says on there that he omits on there that he’s been charged with this whole van incident. Okay. There’s a spot on the form where you’re supposed to put in there.

00:09:43:20 – 00:09:47:54
Keith
You know, any information you’ve been charged with, any type of weapon. And he said,

00:09:47:54 – 00:09:55:54
Keith
you know, nothing. He didn’t put anything in there. So that was false information and that would be another crime for Gonzalez.

00:09:55:54 – 00:10:05:43
Keith
So while this is going on, remember there’s a Tesla number five still floating around out there. So September 4th of 2019, Tesla number five comes back into the picture.

00:10:05:48 – 00:10:31:47
Keith
Gonzalez rents a storage unit just big enough. Just happens to be big enough for a Tesla, right? Just happened to be big enough. So in February 2020, Gonzalez is arrested on a firearm charge. So he’s using a jail phone. I’m sorry, I’m jumping around because these things, trust me, they do all fit together. You’re seeing like this firearm charge, all this stuff all fits together.

00:10:31:52 – 00:10:35:15
Keith
So now he’s on in jail because the firearm charge, right?

00:10:35:15 – 00:10:44:06
Keith
He’s in there because he lied on this form to the ATF that he wasn’t under investigation when he was because he tried to run over his baby mama.

00:10:44:06 – 00:10:59:01
Keith
He was recorded on the jail phone, because all of those are recorded, with a former girlfriend, AC And he says, hey, I still got quote unquote, that Tesla, which I’m pretty sure means Tesla number five.

00:10:59:06 – 00:11:14:29
Keith
And he said he had to, quote unquote sell it after he gets out of the pokey. Now, I said the pokey. That wasn’t his term. That’s my term. But he said he had that Tesla that he had to sell when he got out of jail. So what do you think happened here

00:11:14:29 – 00:11:23:38
Keith
when he got out, which was it was around January 17th of 2021.

00:11:23:43 – 00:11:48:59
Keith
Gonzalez used Instagram to send a user in Seabrook, New Hampshire, information about his Tesla for sale. And he used words for cheap. Now I’m learning by researching eCrimeBytes, words like for cheap usually means stolen. So if you’re ever buying anything out there and you see for cheap, it could be Michael Gonzalez behind it with a stolen Tesla.

00:11:48:59 – 00:11:50:57
Keith
Just be warned. I’m warning you. All right.

00:11:50:57 – 00:12:12:19
Keith
So as you can imagine, he’s sitting on this Tesla. It’s in a storage unit. Just happens to be big enough for a Tesla, and he’s got to move it to Seabrook, New Hampshire, without this repossession company jumping in and stealing it out from under him. Right. So Gonzales called Triple A to tow his Tesla from the storage unit to Seabrook, New Hampshire.

00:12:12:24 – 00:12:34:08
Keith
And they did, except during that time, while he was with his probation officer, Gonzales had a pee sample and in that sample had extended opiates in it, which was against his agreement of being out of jail now. That’s going to

00:12:34:08 – 00:12:41:29
Keith
play an importance here in a second. Remember, drugs and guns, It’s this guy’s theme. So this is all going on simultaneously.

00:12:41:34 – 00:13:03:48
Keith
This Tesla is in motion now from his storage unit out to Seabrook, New Hampshire. Well, I don’t know if the repossession company got in touch with law enforcement or what happened, but the police department were on the other side. The Seabrook New Hampshire Police Department were on the other side, and they took possession of this Tesla. So now it’s in the police hands.

00:13:03:48 – 00:13:08:18
Keith
And of course, Gonzales never paid Tesla in any of this.

00:13:08:18 – 00:13:24:27
Keith
So with that, that is the end of Act three baby mama drama. And I promise you, we’re done with Teslas. We’re done with the drugs and the guns and all that kind of stuff. We’re going to start switching gears into his punishment in Act four.

00:13:24:32 – 00:13:50:24
Keith
